I must admit... I’m not the biggest fan of the Guilia but I love the Stelvio.
Granted, at a cost of 1.35 million pesos for the 4 cyl, I’d rather have an X3 M40i or a Cayenne. I can’t stress enough that these SUVs are overpriced here.
The Guilia 4 cyl is also laughably overpriced at 1.13 million pesos. An amount that buys you 1.4 Kia Stinger GTs.
The QV is about 300,000 pesos more expensive than an M4... so yeah.
They also sell the ridiculously outdated, FWD, 240hp, Guiliet a for Golf R money.
Alfa aint sellin shit here.

AR discounts heavily in the US market. They pretty much don’t have a choice.

Many brands offer discounts, I paid a lot less for my car than MSRP, but it’s still ridiculous what Alfa charges here.
I mean... 1.35 million pesos is 70 grand!
The most expensive Stelvio 2.0 in the US costs under 50 grand!

TIL the Mexican Peso is worth about as much as the Japanese Yen.
I saw one of these in the flesh for the first time when I was visiting my parents for Thanksgiving. I’m not sure if I like the look of them, but they certainly do stand out.

1MXN=5.52YEN.
I think the most superior currency design is the Swiss franc.... they embrace verticality.
Though we did so too for a while, and it was better.

I would’ve just assumed that it’s the car taxes that almost every country outside the U
S charges. Not so in Mexico?

I thought the peso was closer to the USD than the Yen, hardly on the same order of magnitude as the Yen.
Nice! I didn’t even know anybody had vertically oriented money. Why did the peso switch back to horizontal?
I like how most other countries have differently-sized bills to help blind people out. Man USDs are sooooo boring.

Well, The base model Cayenne sells for around 66k, whereas in the US, it’s sold for... 66k.... Granted, what the US adds in dealership labour alone , we add in luxury car taxes, VAT, and the dealer labour costs.
We have an FTA with the EU, so I doubt it’s taxes what makes it so expensive, I’d point fingers at low volume shipping being more expensive than high volume shipping.

Those 200 pesos bills were only
commemorative
of the
bicentennial
of independence so it was a low volume piece
, similar bills were made to celebrate 100 years since the revolution but those were 100 pesos bills
. Calderon had a sort of fixation with the year 2010 because it was
20
o years of independence and
10
0 years since the revolution. As you can see, we used to be full of Dad Jokes.
I mean, they’re wrong... our independence bicentennial is still, for practical purposes, three years away. T hey celebrated it... eight years ago...

Oz is not much different.
Alfa just launched the Stelvio Quadlifoglifoliothingy here for January delivery...AU$150,000 before on road costs. That’s six grand more than the Guilia sedan with same engine. That's a lot of stupid money.

Friend had an employee lease on one for half a year, it was nice. The rest of us have tiny cars so it made for a good bus to go get dinners.
Also his deal was $500 a month with insurance included, which is a big deal in Michigan. Highest insurance in the states.

Ugh, I know. The intention to make Alfa seem “Boutique” seriously jacked up the prices.

Im most insulted by the MiTo... 400,000+ pesos for a super mini. It’s madness.
